Frequently Asked Questions
The number one goal is to help people with the resolution of pain. Most patients have unresolved health issues, and literally just want answers to questions. I have always wanted to answer as many questions as possible. I utilize a specialized biofeedback muscle response system that monitors the nervous system with neurological testing. Biofeedback simply means you are using the body’s strength and weaknesses within the muscular system to determine where the dysfunctions are in the nervous system. And if you know which nerves are dysfunctional, everything those nerve pathways feed will more than likely be dysfunctional. This system combines five diagnostic health specialties that allow for a specific and unique testing of the body.
The system I apply tests the motor (nerves of motion) and sensory-based nerves (nerves of touch, feeling, etc.) to discover injury and dysfunction within tissues of the body. When a patient touches an area of the body it excites or stimulates those nerves that are in that part of the body. That particular area of the body will then send a message to the brain through nerve pathways. The signal that runs through the nerve (like a telephone wire) can be monitored with biofeedback response testing. This testing allows me to test the integrity of the nerve signal through the wire. When there is a defect in the signal it will result in a decrease of muscle strength to whichever muscle it is attached to. Eliminating the defects helps restore nerve function and overall body integrity that reduces pain and increases health.
There are 35 different factors that can weaken muscles throughout the body. Depending on how long the problems have been around will determine if the muscle will have temporary, intermittent or chronic weakness. Those factors that can weaken a muscle can be locally within the muscle tissue itself or from a remote location somewhere else in the body. The 35 factors fall under the body’s major systems, such as: structure, organ imbalances, chemical imbalances, psychological and stress issues, and electrical signal problems in the nerves and meridians of Chinese acupuncture points.
Weakened muscles around a joint can create improper movement within a joint. When a joint moves improperly, it will create friction between the two surfaces of the joint. Remember a joint is when two opposite surfaces of bones meet together, like a knee. Friction eventually leads to pain and swelling in the joint. When any muscle is weakened, the normal muscles on the other side of the joint will pull harder on the joint because they are at full strength. This will result in the normal muscles becoming shorter from pulling so much. Most physicians will give pills to help “relax” the normal muscles, but those muscles are actually doing their normal job. To alleviate the pain, you must correct and strengthen the weakened muscle, not relax the normal working shortened muscle. Restoring a weakened muscle to its proper length and strength will reduce and eliminate friction in a joint which will then reduce pain, all without drugs.
The system I use in the office is known as Bio Systems Integration. It is a system that was developed by Dr. Milton Dowty. He integrated five health care methods into one. These system include: Applied Kinesiology, Clinical Kinesiology, Sacro-Occipital Technique, Bio-Resonance Technique, and Acupunture / Electronic Meridian Therapy.
I have seen a wide variety of conditions. The testing I incorporate gives a comprehensive examination of the body’s structure deviations, chemical imbalances, organ dysfunctions, psychological stress, and acupuncture impairments. The assessment of all these biological systems gives insight into resolution of complex health problems.
I have seen and assessed patients of all ages. I have seen patients as young as 1 week to the 97 year old grandmother. Cases have included patients that suffer from spinal pain, herniated discs, hormonal imbalance, sport injuries, sensitivities (allergies), metabolic dysfunctions, muscle imbalance, digestive issues, and chronic infectious states.
Simply for the reason that the acupuncture system is one of the most informative and therapeutic systems of the body. By treating small acupuncture points on the body, whether it be by needle, laser, vibration, or touch, you open up the dam that hinders energy pathways that run in the body. Energy runs in small paths in our bodies called meridians, they are like small energy highways. If sickness or injury puts a dam in that highway, acupuncture comes along and clears the roadblock. This allows energy to pass from one highway to another and so forth. The body has a circulation pathway that follows our circadian rhythm, we need this circulation to feed and rebuild all systems of the body after a day of work and stress.
I have been in practice since 2005.
Every case is different. Most times it can take from 8 months to a year to become a new patient in the office. I often have to make an intuitive decision as to whether I take on extra new patients. It can be a bit difficult because of the patient load I already have. Quality is the key. I want to be able see each person and treat him or her with full attention and treatment plan. If I have too many patients, it is difficult to keep them in a treatment plan that will produce optimum results. That is why I want to create an online health resource for the public. Vital and useful health information needs to be available for the most common questions I get asked in the office. That way, more people can get their answers quickly and find ways to resolve health issues independently outside of the office.
Definitions
A.K. is a non-evasive technique of testing structural (back pain, sciatica, neck pain), chemical (digestive, hormonal, neurochemicals) and mental (stress) aspects of health using functional assessment of the neuromuscular / neuromechanical system. A.K. is also used with other standard methods of diagnosis. This technique also incorporates many therapies that apply muscle re-activation.
C.K. provides frequency specific testing of the nervous system. Testing of the sensory nerves with this technique in addition to A.K. takes the guesswork out of diagnosing a condition. Identifying the specific frequency of dysfunctional tissue is key to finding the trail that leads to resolution of the problem.
SOT is a system designed by Dr. Dejarnette. This system incorporates the identification and treatment of pelvic distortions that create dysfunctional spinal patterns that lead to pain. It also provides a non-invasive means to detecting organ imbalances.
This system focuses on the nervous system by identifying weak tissues in the body (muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc.) through frequency based biofeedback testing.
Acupuncture and meridian testing in my opinion, is the most powerful system of the body. It connects all aspects of the body: physical, chemical, psychological and spiritual through energetic pathways called meridians. These meridians help govern and control the coordination between all systems (digestive, respiratory, lymph, etc.) within the body. The acupuncture healing system was discovered over 2000 years ago in China. The principle of this healing art is holistic, meaning that all parts of the body are connected. It is not a reductionist viewpoint as in U.S. which states that all parts are separate, on their own, and do not affect the other. The balance of chi or life force is what truly brings about healing and happiness.
Kinesiology basically means the study of movement. In kinesiology, the basic principles state that muscles move bones. The muscles in our body are biologically connected to our organs through nerves, acupuncture meridians, and blood vessels. By testing a muscle’s strength (If a muscle is chronically strong or weak), it can be determined which nerves are injured or irritated, which acupuncture points are imbalanced, and which areas of the body have bad circulation. Assessment of the muscles and joints gives an indication of how the organ system is functioning during times of health or sickness. The goal is to achieve overall balance within all systems of the body. Kinesiology is based on the premise that by fixing the muscles of the body, you can affect all the other body systems because of the connection that muscles have with them. There are thirty-five factors that can control a muscles contraction and expansion. There are 635 muscles in the body, that is a lot of connections and factors. In my decade of practice, I have learned that kinesiology has been a primary resource of testing techniques to help resolve the most complicated of cases.
That is a very deep question to answer, because there is so much information within Chinese Medicine. Basically, the TCM principle is completely about balance. The goal is to create a body that has all body systems; cardio, digestive, lymph, vascular, respiratory, etc. all in balanced working order. The view is holistic, not reductionist like the western medical model, which states the body is reduced to its parts. For example, if the heart has a problem, then give heart medication or surgery. The TCM model would check all the organs, energy pathways, diet, sleep patterns, chronic sickness that could be contributing to the heart issue. When a car’s battery doesn’t work it isn’t always the battery itself, it could be the alternator. You see that instead of the body being reduced to its parts, we look at the body as a whole unit…what makes what work or not work. There are two main types of TCM methods, the five- point method and 8 principle method. That is too much info to talk about at this time, but you will see TCM practitioners check your pulse, color of your skin, shape of your tongue, eyes, and nail beds. What are they checking? Your chi/bio-energy and micro-circulation. Most people think it’s s weird or taboo, but really it is very simplistic in nature. The Chinese found out centuries ago that micro-circulation give huge amounts of information about the body. Micro-circulation has been researched and stated that the thesis of the Chinese model is indeed physically manifested and backed up by basic physiological principles.
Frequency medicine is hard to pinpoint down into a few sentences, but here is a basic explanation. The body gives out sound that is not detectable by the human ear. The tones and sounds are subsonic. Where does the sound come from? From the vibration of our cells, the chi that runs through our cells. It is not an odd thought, because every cell has cellular activity. Your cells receive nutrients or toxins, work to process them, and then push out toxins. This all requires movement, and with movement you create noise. That noise is in the form of waves. When waves are created they create fields, just like you see a pebble creating waves in a pond. Just because you can’t see a wave or hear it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It only means it has not been identified or searched for. This sound emanates off the body in a subsonic range of sound. The body neurologically is very sensitive to the sound, and knows what condition it is in just by the sound produced in our cells. Healthy cells will vibrate like an oxygen molecule would, around 630-640 nm per second. If a cell’s vibration is measured to be higher or lower than this range, it means the cells are imbalanced and probably unhealthy. There are mechanical devices and neurological tests that can identify these frequency imbalances within the body. By changing the sound of the cells you create a healthy cell, which will create healthy tissue, healthy muscles, ligaments, organs, which leads to healthy organ systems, etc…. you get the idea.
